SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES AND SCARBOROUGH SCORE VICTORIES SUNDAY
Serbian White Eagles stretched its early season winning form and a 100 per cent record to five games with a 3-0 victory over Unity FC at Esther Shiner Stadium Sunday. In two other matches in the three-game header during the afternoon and into the evening, Scarborough nipped Toronto Falcons by a 1-0 score and Hamilton City played to a 4-4 draw with Spanish Future Stars.
Nikola Timotijevic opened the scoring for Serbian White Eagles when his drive for goal was diverted past Unity goalkeeper Mortin Barrios by a Unity defender. Midfielder Nikola Djurkovic made it 2-0 at 45 minutes, scoring from close-in off a free kick. It was 2-0 at the break.
Milos Mijatovic increased the lead to 3-0 for Serbian White Eagles at 69 minutes, a drive from 30 yards into the roof of the net out of reach of substitute goalkeeper Nuno Dias. It was 3-0 at the final whistle.
It was an even contest for most of the game between Toronto Falcons and Scarborough in the opener, a winning goal by Matias Gonzales at 67 minutes giving the Toronto east-end side the three points to retain second position in the standings.
Hamilton City defender Ivan Kostic opened the scoring at the 10th minute mark in the game against expansion team Spanish Future Stars, but goals by Ismiel Osman, who was prominent throughout (20 minutes), Michael Kusi (22 minutes) and Santiago Rodriguez (39 minutes) gave Future Stars a 3-1 lead. Hamilton City’s Kostic struck a second goal at 40 minutes to reduce the lead to 3-2 and Hamilton struck again with a goal by forward Gregor Zugelj for a 3-3 score at the 57th minute mark.
Spanish Future Stars went into a 4-3 lead with a goal by Nelson Amaya at 57 minutes and Hamilton drew level with a goal at 80 minutes by defender Arsen Platis, a 4-4 score at the final whistle.
CSL games resume with a triple header on Sunday, July 14 at Esther Shiner Stadium. Serbian White Eagles and Toronto Falcons meet in the opener at 2 pm, Hamilton City and Unity FC at 4 pm and Scarborough vs Spanish Future Stars at 6 pm.
