SCARBOROUGH ON TOP WITH 3-0 VICTORY – Ardelian hat-trick lifts Toronto Falcons
Scarborough jumped to the top of the standings with a convincing 3-0 victory over Serbian White Eagles, Toronto Falcons moved into second position with a 7-1 rout of Hamilton City and Unity FC won its third of the season with a 3-0 victory over Spanish Future Stars, three games at Esther Shiner Stadium Saturday, July 27.
Camaal Reid struck the crossbar with a free kick 10 minutes into the game and scored Scarborough’s opening goal from a direct free kick at the 35th minute. It was 1-0 at the break. Matias Gonzales made it 2-0 for the Toronto east side at 61 minutes and Marko Prokic completed the scoring for Scarborough at the 85th minute mark, 3-0 at the final whistle.
Thiago Marcolin opened the scoring with a penalty for Unity FC when referee Juri Ponomaron pointed to the spot following an untidy challenge from behind and in the box by the Future Stars defender. Lucas Ramos made it 2-0 for Unity at 60 minutes, the goal coming from a breakaway, and Marcolin completed the scoring at 3-0 from a drive from out of the box, his second goal at 65 minutes.
A second half hat-trick by Toronto Falcons’ substitute Nutsu Ardelian was a highlight of the 7-1 rout by his team over Hamilton City in the late game, a victory that moved the Falcons into a tied on points goal differential second place in the standings ahead of Serbian White Eagles. Falcons handed the White Eagles its first defeat of the season on July 14. Falcons forward Roman Tsytsyk set the scene for a one-sided match with two goals at 12 and 16 minutes, and goals late in the game by Dmytro Konyk at 70 minutes and midfielder Nazar Slobodian at the 90th minute mark, a 7-1 score at the final whistle.
